live-trap
Catch without killing
A live-trap is a device designed to capture an animal without killing or injuring it, allowing for release elsewhere.
The term works as both noun and verb: We set live-traps for the raccoons; Animal control will live-trap the coyote and relocate it.
Humane societies and wildlife managers favor live-trapping over lethal methods.
