snap trap
Rodent killing device
A snap trap is a device that kills small animals—typically mice or rats—by snapping shut when triggered.
A spring-loaded bar strikes the animal when it takes bait from a pressure plate.
The classic wooden mousetrap is the most familiar example: I set snap traps in the basement after finding droppings.
