littleneck
Petite hard-shell
A littleneck is a small, young quahog clam, typically harvested at about two inches across.
Littlenecks are prized for eating raw on the half shell or steamed: We ordered a dozen littlenecks with cocktail sauce.
Named for Little Neck Bay on Long Island, where they were once abundant.
