literacy campaign
Push for reading
A literacy campaign is an organized effort, typically by governments or organizations, to teach reading and writing skills to a population.
Such campaigns often target adults in regions with low educational attainment: Cuba's 1961 literacy campaign sent young volunteers into rural areas.
The term sometimes extends to promoting other fundamental competencies: a financial literacy campaign.
