line managers
Employees' immediate supervisors
Line managers are supervisors with direct authority over employees—the bosses who assign work, conduct performance reviews, and handle day-to-day oversight.
The term distinguishes them from executives or staff managers who set policy but don't supervise individual workers: Talk to your line manager about taking time off.
Also called direct managers.
