lea
Open pastoral land
A lea is an open area of grassy land—a meadow or field.
The word is poetic and archaic, surviving mainly in literary contexts and place names: Through the lea the river winds.
You're more likely to encounter it in old verse or pastoral imagery than in contemporary speech.
