legislative session
Assembly's working term
A legislative session is the period during which a legislature meets to conduct business.
Sessions may be regular (scheduled annually or biennially) or special (called to address specific issues): The governor called a special legislative session to address the budget crisis.
Bills not passed before a session ends typically die and must be reintroduced.
