legal appeals
Requests for review
Legal appeals are formal requests to a higher court to review and potentially reverse a lower court's decision.
When a party believes a judge made an error in applying the law—not simply that they disagree with the outcome—they may file an appeal.
The appeals court examines the trial record and legal arguments but typically does not hear new evidence or testimony.
The defense filed a legal appeal arguing the evidence was improperly admitted.
