appeals courts
Higher judicial bodies
Appeals courts review decisions made by lower courts rather than hearing cases originally.
They examine whether legal errors occurred in how a case was tried or decided, not whether the facts were judged correctly.
Most judicial systems have intermediate appeals courts below a supreme court: The case was appealed to the Ninth Circuit.
Also called appellate courts.
