kneehole desk
Desk with recess
A kneehole desk is a desk with a recessed space between two stacks of drawers, allowing the user's knees to fit underneath while seated.
The design became popular in the 18th century and remains common in traditional office furniture.
She sat at the antique kneehole desk, her legs tucked comfortably into the opening.
