kick serve
Bouncing topspin serve
A kick serve in tennis is hit with heavy topspin, causing the ball to bounce high and often sideways when it lands.
Players execute it by brushing up sharply on the ball, imparting spin that makes the serve arc higher over the net and jump unpredictably in the service box.
The kick serve offers more margin for error than a flat serve and is commonly used as a second serve: Her kick serve bounced up to his shoulder.
