jury selection
Picking the panel
Jury selection is the process of choosing jurors for a trial from a pool of potential candidates.
Attorneys for both sides question prospective jurors and may dismiss those they believe will be unfavorable to their case.
The goal is theoretically an impartial jury, though in practice each side seeks jurors likely to be sympathetic: The defense focused on jury selection strategy.
