venire
Prospective juror group
Venire is a legal term for a panel of prospective jurors summoned to court for jury selection.
The full phrase is venire facias, Latin for "cause to come." Lawyers and judges use it as shorthand: The venire was larger than usual for this high-profile case.
From this pool, the actual jury is selected through questioning and challenges.
