jinking

Quick direction changes

Jinking is quick, evasive movement—a sudden darting or dodging to avoid being caught or hit.

The term appears most often in descriptions of military aircraft maneuvering to evade enemy fire, or in sports contexts where a player makes sharp, unpredictable changes of direction to shake off defenders.

The fighter pilot was jinking hard to avoid the missile lock.

In British usage especially, jinking suggests nimble, almost playful evasion.
