jewel cases
Precious stone holders
Jewel cases are the hinged plastic boxes used to store compact discs.
The standard design features a transparent front that displays the album artwork and a black tray that holds the disc.
The name comes from their resemblance to boxes used for storing jewelry.
I still have all my old CDs in their original jewel cases.
