ipseity

One's unique identity

Ipseity is the quality of being oneself—individual identity or selfhood considered in its most essential form.

The term appears in philosophy and psychology when discussing what makes a person the particular self they are, distinct from others: The patient's sense of ipseity remained intact despite memory loss.

It's a technical word for the bare fact of being *this* self rather than another.
