intramural teams
Campus recreation groups
Intramural teams compete within a single institution rather than against outside opponents.
The term comes from Latin for "within the walls"—intramural sports at a university pit students against fellow students, not rival schools.
She joined an intramural basketball team her freshman year.
The opposite is extramural or intercollegiate competition.
