intestinal tract

Body's food pathway

The intestinal tract is the long tube running from the stomach to the anus where digestion and absorption occur.

It includes the small intestine, where nutrients enter the bloodstream, and the large intestine, where water is absorbed and waste consolidates.

Fiber promotes a healthy intestinal tract.

Often used interchangeably with digestive tract, though that term may include the stomach and esophagus.
