inspirations

Sources of motivation

Inspirations is the plural of inspiration—moments, ideas, or sources that spark creativity or motivation.

A painter might cite nature and old masters as her inspirations.

The word can also refer to sudden brilliant ideas: Several inspirations came to her while showering.

In its older sense, inspirations were divine influences or breathings-in of the spirit.
