inlier

Surrounded older rock

An inlier is a data point that falls within the expected range or pattern, the opposite of an outlier.

In geology, an inlier is an older rock formation surrounded by younger rocks—the reverse of an outlier, where younger rock sits amid older formations.

After removing the outliers, the remaining inliers showed a clear trend.
