immunocompromise
Body's shields down
Immunocompromise is a weakened or impaired immune system, leaving the body less able to fight infections and disease.
The condition may result from illness (HIV, cancer), medical treatment (chemotherapy, organ transplant drugs), or genetic factors.
Someone in this state is immunocompromised: Immunocompromised patients should avoid crowds during flu season.
