bone marrow failure
Blood factory shutdown
Bone marrow failure is a condition in which the bone marrow stops producing enough blood cells—red cells, white cells, or platelets.
The failure may be inherited or acquired through disease, radiation, or toxic exposure.
Without treatment, patients become vulnerable to anemia, infection, and uncontrolled bleeding: The chemotherapy caused temporary bone marrow failure.
