hot work
Sparks and flames
Hot work is any operation producing heat, sparks, or flame—welding, cutting, grinding, brazing.
The term appears in industrial safety contexts, where hot work requires permits and precautions against fire: No hot work allowed in the storage area.
A hot work permit authorizes such activities after confirming safeguards are in place.
