hooches

Crude temporary dwellings

Hooches is the plural of hooch, which has two meanings.

The first is cheap or illicit alcohol, especially homemade liquor: They passed around hooches of moonshine.

The second, from military slang originating in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, refers to crude dwellings or huts: Soldiers built hooches from whatever materials they could find.
