hitch kick

Airborne leg switch

A hitch kick is a jumping motion where the legs scissor in midair—one leg kicks forward, then the other follows while the first pulls back.

The technique appears in track and field long jump to maintain balance and extend distance, and in dance and gymnastics for dramatic effect: She added a hitch kick before landing the leap.
