high-centered
Chassis on obstacle
High-centered describes a vehicle stuck with its undercarriage resting on an obstacle—a rock, ridge, or mound—so that the wheels lose traction or lift off the ground.
The term comes from off-road driving, where uneven terrain can leave a vehicle balanced on its center: We got high-centered on a boulder and had to be towed out.
Figuratively, high-centered can mean stuck or unable to proceed.
