heads-up displays
Transparent screen projections
A heads-up display projects information onto a transparent surface in a user's line of sight, eliminating the need to look away from what you're doing.
Originally developed for fighter pilots, the technology now appears in cars, showing speed and navigation on the windshield: The heads-up display let her check directions without taking her eyes off the road.
Often abbreviated HUD.
