Hand ball (also handball) has two main meanings in sports.
In soccer and similar games, a hand ball is a foul where a player other than the goalkeeper touches the ball with their hand or arm: The referee called a hand ball in the penalty area.
Handball is also a distinct sport where players throw a ball against a wall or pass it by hand toward a goal.
