grigio

Ashen wine descriptor

Grigio is Italian for gray, appearing in English almost exclusively in *pinot grigio*, a white wine made from grayish-purple grapes.

The wine is light, crisp, and ubiquitous: I'll have a glass of the pinot grigio.

Outside wine contexts, grigio rarely appears in English.
