grey seals
Spotted marine mammals
Grey seals are large marine mammals found in coastal waters of the North Atlantic.
Males can reach over 600 pounds, with distinctive elongated snouts earning them the nickname "horsehead seals." They haul out on rocky shores and beaches to breed and molt.
The spelling "grey" predominates in British English; Americans typically write "gray seals."
