green tax
Environmental impact fee
A green tax is a levy designed to discourage environmentally harmful activities—taxes on carbon emissions, plastic bags, or fuel consumption.
The revenue may fund environmental programs or simply make polluting more expensive.
Also called an environmental tax or eco-tax: The government proposed a green tax on single-use plastics.
