road toll
Driving passage charge
Road toll refers to a fee charged for using a particular road, bridge, or highway—the price of passage through a tollway or turnpike.
The term also denotes the number of deaths or injuries from traffic accidents: The holiday weekend's road toll reached fifteen.
In this second sense, toll carries its older meaning of a count of losses, as in death toll.
