green anaconda

Amazon's largest serpent

The green anaconda is the world's heaviest snake, native to South American swamps and rivers.

These massive constrictors can exceed 200 pounds and 20 feet, killing prey by squeezing rather than venom.

They spend much of their lives in water, where their bulk is better supported: We spotted a green anaconda gliding through the murky shallows.
