graduation music
Diploma ceremony tunes
Graduation music refers to the ceremonial pieces traditionally played at commencement exercises.
The term most often evokes "Pomp and Circumstance" by Elgar, the familiar processional that accompanies graduates walking to receive diplomas: The graduation music started and we all stood up.
Schools may also use other fanfares or contemporary songs for the occasion.
