gillie
Scottish hunting guide
A gillie is an attendant who assists sportsmen in fishing or hunting, especially in Scotland.
The gillie guides clients to good spots, manages equipment, and offers local expertise: The gillie rowed us to where the salmon were running.
Historically, a gillie was a Highland chief's personal servant.
Also spelled ghillie.
