geomagnetic storm
Solar wind disruption
A geomagnetic storm is a temporary disturbance of Earth's magnetic field caused by solar wind or coronal mass ejections from the sun.
These storms can disrupt satellite communications, GPS systems, and power grids, while also producing auroras visible at unusually low latitudes.
A severe geomagnetic storm knocked out power across Quebec in 1989.
