gender card

Sex-based rhetorical appeal

The gender card is an accusation that someone is exploiting their gender to gain unfair advantage or deflect criticism: She's playing the gender card again.

Like "race card," the phrase is typically dismissive, suggesting that claims of sexism or discrimination are strategic moves rather than legitimate grievances.

Most often directed at women who raise concerns about gender bias.
