gear oil
Drivetrain lubricant liquid
Gear oil is a thick lubricant designed for transmissions, differentials, and other gearboxes.
Its high viscosity helps it cling to gear teeth under extreme pressure and heat.
Gear oil is heavier than motor oil and has a distinctively pungent smell: I got gear oil all over my hands changing the differential fluid.
