anti-wear
Prevents surface damage
Anti-wear describes substances or properties that reduce friction and prevent surfaces from wearing down through contact.
The term appears most often with lubricants and coatings: anti-wear additives in motor oil, anti-wear treatment for engine parts.
Sometimes hyphenated, sometimes not.
