frogging

Undoing knitted stitches

Frogging is the practice of unraveling knitted or crocheted work to reuse the yarn, named for the sound "rip it, rip it" suggesting a frog's croak.

Knitters frog when they've made a mistake or want to reclaim yarn from an abandoned project: I had to frog the whole sweater after I noticed a dropped stitch ten rows back.
