framerates

Frames per second

Framerates measure how many still images display per second in video or animation, creating the illusion of motion.

Higher framerates produce smoother movement: film typically runs at 24 frames per second, while video games often target 60 or higher.

The gameplay felt choppy because my framerates kept dropping.

Also written as two words or hyphenated: frame rates, frame-rates.
