flood map
Water risk diagram
A flood map shows areas at risk of flooding, typically produced by government agencies to guide building codes, insurance requirements, and emergency planning.
The maps classify zones by flood probability—a hundred-year floodplain has a 1% annual chance of flooding.
The flood map put our house in a high-risk zone, so we needed extra insurance.
