fish traps
Submerged catching devices
Fish traps are devices designed to catch fish by luring them into an enclosure from which escape is difficult or impossible.
They range from simple woven baskets and wire cages to elaborate stationary structures built into streams or tidal areas.
Unlike nets that require active handling, traps work passively—baited or positioned in fish pathways, they capture fish over time while the fisher attends to other tasks.
We checked the fish traps at dawn and found a good haul of catfish.
