firefighting plane
Flying fire suppressor
A firefighting plane is an aircraft designed or adapted to combat wildfires, typically by dropping water or fire retardant from above.
Some scoop water from lakes or reservoirs while in flight; others are loaded on the ground.
Also called an air tanker or water bomber: Firefighting planes dropped thousands of gallons of retardant on the blaze.
