film roll

A film roll is a length of photographic film wound onto a spool, used in cameras before digital photography became dominant.

The term appears both as film roll and roll of film: I found an old film roll in my grandmother's dresser.

Film rolls came in standard sizes—35mm being most common for consumer cameras—and required developing at a photo lab to produce prints.
