female connector
Accepts the plug
A female connector is the socket or receptacle in an electrical or mechanical connection—the part with holes or slots that receives the corresponding male connector's pins or prongs.
The terminology mirrors biological sex: female parts receive, male parts insert.
The HDMI cable plugs into the female connector on the back of the TV.
