featheredge

Beveled board edge

A featheredge is an edge that tapers to an extremely thin, almost sharp line—like the edge of a feather.

In woodworking, boards may be cut with one edge thicker than the other, creating a featheredge for overlapping siding.

In plastering and painting, a featheredge is where a coat thins gradually to nothing, blending seamlessly with the surrounding surface: She featheredged the patch so it wouldn't show.
