fartlek
Fast-slow running method
Fartlek is a training method for runners that alternates between fast and slow paces without a strict schedule.
Unlike formal interval training, fartlek is unstructured—you speed up when you feel like it, recover when you need to: I did a fartlek run through the park, sprinting between lampposts.
The term comes from Swedish for "speed play."
