fainting goats

Collapsing myotonic livestock

Fainting goats are a breed of domestic goat with a genetic condition called myotonia congenita that causes their muscles to stiffen when startled, often causing them to fall over.

Despite appearances, the goats don't actually lose consciousness—they remain fully alert while temporarily immobilized.

Also called myotonic goats or Tennessee fainting goats.
