faints

Loses consciousness briefly

Faints is what a distiller calls the last portion of liquid that comes off during distillation—the weak, impure tail end that follows the desirable "hearts." The faints contain harsh alcohols and off-flavors, so they're typically set aside and redistilled later.

Also called "tails" or "feints."
